Single Payer Supporters in NYC,

Below you will find many events to show your support for single-payer -
the only solution to the health care crisis that is universal and
guaranteed to contain costs! Let's keep up the heat for single-payer
health care!

In common cause,

Healthcare-NOW!

Congressman Tim Bishop [NY 1]
Town Hall on Health Care!

Thursday, August 27 from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM at
One Independence Hill Farmingville, NY 11738

Tim Bishop, Farmingville, NY (Health
Care Recess Event). Please arrive as early as you can. Though
it
technically begins at 6:30, it's first come first serve and a lot of
anti-health care reform protestors are expected. Congressman Tim
Bishop, who had to be escorted out of his earlier townhall meeting on
health care by five Suffolk County Police Officers, is holding a second
townhall on healthcare.

There will be single payer supporters there.

FEMINISTS PICKET SENATOR SCHUMER

WOMEN WILL NOT BE FOOLED BY FAKE HEALTH CARE
REFORM!

Now
is the time to push Schumer to introduce a companion bill in the Senate
to HR 676, the National Health Insurance Act. As feminists we demand
that Schumer support the only option that will mean more independence
for all women, True single payer, national healthcare with NO insurance
companies!

Join us on Thursday as we demand that Senator Schumer stand up to
the insurance companies: and support single-payer healthcare! The
insurance industry is THE problem with health care, putting their
profits over our health. There can be NO true health care reform that
includes insurance companies.

Women deserve healthcare in our own right. Without national health
care, women in the U.S. are caught in a trap because our insurance is
tied to our jobs. Because women are still paid less than men and fill
in the gaps left by our current health care system, we more frequently
take leave or work part-time to take care of loved ones. We then have
to depend on a male partner for our health insurance. If everyone was
covered through a national system, we wouldn’t have to rely on a male
partner and his employer for health insurance or go without if we work
part-time or in the home. And because the freedom to decide when and if
we bear children is critical to our self-determination, abortion and
birth control must be fully covered under national health insurance.
